New Amphitheatre in Alpharetta
Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park opened May 10, 2008 with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. The 12,000 seat state-of-the-art venue is located in the northern suburbs of Atlanta and is only minutes from 400 and North Point Mall in Alpharetta, Georgia. The amphitheatre's 2008 season will hold diverse events including concerts, community events and movie nights.I used to go to many concerts in Birmingham at the Oak Mountain Amphitheatre, and remember that it was a completely different experience than any other kind of venue. Something about the open air, sitting in the grass, using the port-a-potty... ahh the memories. There are a lot of great gigs coming up this summer: Steve Miller (saw him at Oak Mtn.), Charlie Daniels (ask my brother about meeting him at a driving range), Julie Andrews (mom would love this), Boston, Styx, The Eagles, The Black Crowes, Steely Dan, Yes (a great band) and Stevie Nicks.
