Mike's Corner

I had a great time Sunday night getting to know Shannon's family a little better. After leaving work, Shannon and I went over to David and Jill's house (David is Shannon's oldest brother, Chris lives in Florida). Shannon's parent were there (Al and Sandi) as well as Shannon's niece and nephew (Andrea and Brian). I felt I needed to earn my place at the table, so there was a little "hostile take-over" of the grill by yours truly. David didn't seem to mind at all. He had just finished a huge 3-week project of building new custom cabinets for the family room, and he seemed to enjoy watching his new (awesome) plasma TV with his dad. The ribs were tender, the burgers thick, Shannon made a great Artichoke and Spinach dip (my brother's recipe), Jill had created a fantastic fruit bowl (her grandmother's recipe), and I was ready for a long nap by 8:45. One thing did bother me about the visit... Brian's office is bigger than mine! I even mentioned this to Shannon. Office Envy of the worst kind. He's learned to send e-mail now, so it is just a matter of time before he starts posting messages here at Mike's Corner! What a great Labor Day (although I'm still concerned about the whole office thing). ME
