Good Morning!

Have I mentioned how much I am enjoying my new position as the Kitchen Manager for Outback? I think my favorite part is the change in hours. I'm not a night person at all, so getting up at 7:00 AM is just dandy with me. Nothing says "hand me a gun" like an obnoxious alarm! Where's the fun in sleeping in everyday? It's really going to take some time to adjust back to my 1:00 PM arrival time once this KM gig is over, but I'll try to manage. Oh well, gotta get to work (at 7:45 on this beautiful Saturday morning)! Mike

Kate Roberts

It's odd to see Kate eating anything other than Firehouse Subs. Back in Opelika, she would come in every day with her usual sandwich for her pre-shift meal. If I was nice, she would split it with me (which was normally my breakfast, lunch, and dinner). Kate and Amber McNider are the two people that made sure I was fed everyday, because otherwise I would forget to eat. Thanks for all the subs. That burger looks great, Kate. Save me half!

On second thought, I don't think I want that golf ball any more!

Quote(s) of the Week

I've been slacking, so I thought I would give you more than one quote to ponder over the weekend. This week's subject is death (morbid, I know).

"In the last analysis, it is our conception of death which decides our answers to all the questions that life put to us." -Dag Hammarskjold

"Even very young children need to be informed about dying. Explain the concept of death very carefully to your child. This will make threatening him with it much more effective." -P.J. O'Rourke

"When you cease to make a contribution, you begin to die." -Eleanor Roosevelt

"Death is nature's way of saying, "Your table is ready."" -Robin Williams

Have a great weekend! Mike

My brother, Ben, called me today to let me know that I hadn't updated the site in a couple of days (Jimmy had already notified me of this). Duh! I've been busy! I must be the world's slowest KM in the history of Outback. The store's clean though! Anyway, I squeezed in a few minutes for just one post. Here's a great photo of my new boss, John Azarian, at last year's Christmas Party. I know exactly how he feels.

Skydiving

The skydiving trip was postponed, I didn't "chicken out", as some people have insinuated (and you know who you are). As soon as we get some nice weather and Jimmy loses 30 pounds, we'll go.

Sharp Looking Kid!!!

Introducing Gentry Carlisle Sharp. He was born at 1:49pm on July 12, 2005. He weighed nine pounds five ounces and was 21 inches long. Congratulations to Derek and Lee Ellen!

Tattoos

I realize that tattoos mean different things to different people. For some, tattoos are ways of expressing one's self, defining one's individuality, or making a statement about something. But come on, what in the world is being expressed by this? Many of my friends (Jimmy, Tracy, Jay, Sig, Kayla, Matt, Sam, Stephanie, Honz, Russell) have one or more tattoos (Meghan has seven), but none are as absurd as this. Even sweet Shannon has a tattoo. When I see photos like this, it makes me wonder what goes through some people's minds. My body is, and will remain, tattoo free (90% because of my fear of needles, 10% because of my fear of needles). I'm looking forward to the new television show on TLC called Miami Ink. Go to their website to check out some cool photo galleries: www.miami-ink.com
