Welcome to the Neighborhood

The following took place one mile from the Austell Outback (Mom, please don't read this).

A manhunt is underway for one of two suspects who allegedly shot a police officer outside a BP station on Austell Road late Saturday afternoon in Cobb County. The shooting occurred shortly after 4:00 p.m.
The suspects have been identified as 20-year-old Darin Richardson and his 26-year-old brother Daven. Both are black males. Daven Richardson was caught a few hours after the manhunt began.
According to authorities a call came in from the BP service station about two suspicious men. They had been seen hanging around the station in a truck for a few days. When an officer arrived, he did a check on the men’s identification.
A second officer soon arrived. Shortly after his arrival shots were fired, hitting the officer who performed the checks.
“They asked him to get out the vehicle. At some point when one of the suspects got out of the vehicle he shot one of our officers. I believe he shot him twice,” said Cpl. Brody Staud of the Cobb County Police Department.
One witness said that he heard three shots that sounded like popping noises. Authorities say one suspect ran behind Party City, a store located in a nearby mall. The other suspect ran in the opposite direction. As they ran an ambulance arrived on the scene to transport the wounded officer to a nearby hospital.
As the manhunt continues, police are convinced the remaining suspect hasn’t gone far. “They both will be caught and brought to justice,” said one officer.
The officer who was shot was treated at a nearby hospital and later released. He is recovering at home.

Quote of the Week

To laugh often and much;
to win the respect of intelligent people
and the affection of children;
to earn the appreciation of honest critics
and endure the betrayal of false friends;
to appreciate beauty;
to find the best in others;
to leave the world a bit better,
whether by a garden patch
or a redeemed social condition;
to know even one life has breathed easier
because you have lived.
This is to have succeeded.

Unheard of....

Shannon discovered today that I had never tried an Egg McMuffin from McDonald's. She was shocked! But not near as much as I when I learned that she had never read (or even heard of The Chronicles of Narnia, or the most famous book in the series, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe). I promised to try an Egg McMuffin if she promised to read the first book in the series. I'll let you know how this all plays out. Stay tuned... Mike

Keith and Kevin Harrison

In the top photo, Keith is center and Kevin is the one wearing shorts. I went to Northview High School with these guys (and Autumn) in Dothan years ago. They were always extremely talented, and it's good to see that they haven't given up on their dreams of making it big. Check out http://waynemusicrocks.tripod.com/article01.html for an article I ran across the other day.

Riddle of the Week

Autumn was the first (and only) to answer correctly last week. This one is a little easier, so I hope to have an answer by this afternoon:

I know a word of letters three.
Add two, and fewer there will be.

Good luck! Mike

Left Brain vs. Right Brain

This one is impossible!

The pictures attached are used to test the level of stress a person can handle. The slower the pictures move, the better your ability of handling stress. (Thanks for the pictures, Ben)

Friendship

Friendship is like pissing your pants,

Everyone can see it, but only you can feel it's true warmth.

Thank you for being the piss in my pants.
