Michael Buble in Concert at the Fox
With much kicking and screaming, Shannon finally convinced me to go to the Michael Buble (pronounced boo-Blay') concert at the Fox Theatre. I wasn't the only guy duped into going to this event, but we were definitely in the minority. 6000 people (5907 female, 93 male by my estimates) at $100 per person, with 2 performances = $1.2 million in sales generated in 2 days. After his opening number, Buble mentioned that he had a new appreciation for his fans, and said "you ought to see the house I just built". That's it... I'm taking singing lessons.
Traffic was a bear on the way there, and our dinner plans fell through due to terrible service at The Whisper Room (please boycott), so we ended up eating a bag of peanuts at the Fox (see previous blogs regarding the Fox concessions).
Half way through the concert, a small smirk appeared on my face thinking of all of those guys that had opted out of this concert. What a mistake they had made. This "Booblay" cat was incredible! He was talented, funny, and was backed up by a huge band complete with piano, bass ( a real bass, not the electric kind), drums, trumpets, trombones and saxophones. Shannon is his biggest fan (wallpaper, ringtones, etc...) so you can only imagine her perma-grin.
We were starving after the concert, so we headed to the Varsity (a staple in the diet of all true Atlantans). Two chili dogs later, it was time to head home.
The (almost) perfect date... ME
