Lumberjacking Merit Badge

Shannon has about six trees in her backyard. I'm sure that they were originally planted for privacy, but one of the root systems has started to threaten her back patio. I was off today, so I decided that I would take care of this nasty little problem for her while she was at work. What a nice surprise it would be when she got home! Now, I don't know if you knew this, but I was in the Boy Scouts years ago, and earned many Merit Badges: Coin Collecting, Drafting, Swimming, Golf, Traffic Safety, Water Skiing, Music, Fingerprinting, Snow Sports, Public Speaking, etc... Here are some that I never got around to: Camping, Shotgun Shooting, Hiking, Wood Carving, Backpacking, Insect Study, Wilderness Survival, and Forestry. I guess I should have diversified my portfolio a little better. Luckily, I'm more stubborn than that tree was, and I brought it down without too much hassle. Tackling the root system was a different matter. It took every tool from the garage to start untangling that monster. Going to Lowe's tomorrow to pick up an axe so that I can finish the job. Hopefully, I will still have all ten digits whenever I log back on. ME
